hi friends!
today i wanted to share some of the things that i turn to when my mind or body needs a little extra love—those moments when something inside is crying out for attention and i need a remedy to quiet the tears. these are my go-to’s and what works for me, so they might not work for you and that is okay. each one of us is unique and composed up of different cells. what works for someone might not work for the other… i simply just want to share in case it can help in some way or another.
holistic health hacks
tired — morning sunlight exposure upon waking, 10pm bedtime (when melatonin starts being produced in our body), same/consistent wake & sleep schedule/times
cravings — include protein & fiber-rich carbs (root vegetables) into meals
bloated — take deep breaths before meals & drink fennel tea after meals
anxious — walk it out, journal it out, take an l-theanine supplement
brain fog — electrolytes (like coconut water), omega 3s (chia/hemp/flaxseeds, eggs or fish)
sleep — magnesium (bisglycinate works great), listen to binaural beats or a sleep meditation
headaches — fresh air, magnesium, electrolytes, peppermint tea
fun fact of the week! (i think this might be fun - i can nerd out :)
it’s strawberry season! 7-8 medium sized organic strawberries contain your recommended daily vitamin C value.
vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and plays a role in the immune system, as well as helping to form collagen, blood vessels, cartilage, and muscle. strawberries also contain antioxidants, fiber, potassium, manganese, and other minerals.
however, the nutritional value of vitamin C can decrease over time and when exposed to heat. for example, a serving of fresh strawberries will have twice the vitamin C of the same amount of cooked strawberries.
so, if you like strawberries, i encourage you to go find some local, organic ones and eat up! specifically 8 ;)
(please opt for organic strawberries as non-organic strawberries are on the “dirty dozen” list and are likely to be sprayed with chemicals and pesticides)
i hope you are well <3
