Hi friends <3
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how something as simple as walking can be so beneficial. It’s one of those things we often overlook because it feels too easy. But the more time I spend outside and away from screens, the more I feel like me again.
There’s something about moving your body outside, in fresh air. Whether it’s a slow walk, going barefoot in the grass, or just laying in the sun—that hits reset on a deeper level. Having trees around or the sound of waves in the background is just so healing (I think).
Walking especially has been such a helpful way to clear my mind, calm my nervous system, and come back to what matters. It’s simple, but it works.
So naturally, my brain needed to know why walking is so good for us—so I did a little digging. Here’s what I found… and maybe it’ll inspire you to step outside for a quick spring stroll or even a longer hike. Whatever it looks like for you, just know that walking is such a simple, powerful tool to keep in your back pocket—for both your mental and physical health.

Some of the science-backed benefits of walking include:
Increases blood flow to the brain, improving memory, problem-solving, and focus
It lowers cortisol levels (that stress hormone), helping you feel calmer and more grounded
It boosts creativity (by up to 60%!) making it perfect for brainstorming and new ideas
A short walk after meals helps regulate blood sugar, supporting digestion and insulin sensitivity
It even triggers autophagy, the body’s natural process of cellular repair and longevity
And walking increases oxygen flow and mitochondrial production, which gives you more energy throughout the day
So the next time you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected—try going for a walk. No fancy gear required. Just you, your feet, and a little time outside. It’s one of the most underrated (and free!) forms of self-care we have.
Sending love,
kenzie
